Matthew J. Barnes Matthew J. Barnes practices commercial litigation and advises small to mid-sized businesses on all aspect of corporate and tax planning. In addition, Mr. Barnes counsels the firm's individual clients to address their estate planning and Medicaid needs, and represents clients in matters related to probate administration. Mr. Barnes also practices real property litigation and assists clients with commercial and residential real estate transactions. After obtaining a Bachelor of Business Administration in Public Accounting, Mr. Barnes attended and graduated from the School of Law at Hofstra University and was the recipient of the Excellence in Commercial Law award. Mr. Barnes is licensed to practice in New York, and is admitted to the United States District Courts for the Southern District and the Eastern District of New York. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Barnes was an associate in the mergers and acquisitions group at Ernst & Young, LLP in New York, focusing on tax structuring and related due diligence issues for corporate and limited partnership entities, as well as tax issues related to bankruptcy reorganizations. Mr. Barnes is a member of the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations and the New York State Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Barnes is an active member of the Chaminade Lawyers Alumni Association.
