Chalos & Co, P.C. Holds MARPOL Awareness Seminar at Piraeus Marine Club

On October 15, 2010, Chalos & Co, P.C. – International Law Firm, in conjunction with GL-FutureShip, hosted a luncheon and MARPOL awareness presentation at the Marine Club in Piraeus, Greece. The luncheon was well attended by nearly one hundred shipowners, operators P & I insurers, ship brokers and maritime attorneys from around the world. George M. Chalos's presentation, entitled "Marpol, Magic Pipes & Whistleblowers: The U.S. Prosecution of the Shipping Industry", addressed vessel owners' exposure to criminal liability for suspected MARPOL violations when vessels are in U.S. ports. The presentation also addressed the rights that ship owners and crew members have when they are being questioned regarding MARPOL violations.
